2024 Mini Masterpieces

Thank you for your interest in the 7th Biennial Mini Masterpieces fundraising exhibition. This unique event raises money to support FAM’s mission to create experiences that spark imagination and engagement in the arts for all people in our community through exhibitions, events and programming.

We are glad you would like to donate your artwork for this special event. Your work will be displayed from August 2nd through August 24th, and bid on during the Silent Auction at our opening reception, on August 2nd from 5 - 8 pm

NOTE: The Freeport Art Museum reserves the right to decline any and all pieces of art that do not meet the creative standards of this exhibition and/or include inappropriate subject matter.

GUIDELINES FOR ARTISTS

SIZE - Each completed piece must measure no more than 6 inches tall, wide, or deep. This INCLUDES the framing, mounting, or display mounts. (A 6 inch piece with a 7 inch frame is over the 6 inch maximum.)

DISPLAY - Each piece must be ready to hang (with wire or hanging hardware on the back) or ready to sit on a pedestal. 

TITLES - Please attach information labels, with the Artist’s Full Name, Title of the piece, and Media of the piece. Print clearly and attach labels to the back of the piece (underside for 3D).

DELIVERY - Artists may hand-deliver or mail donated minis to FAM, during regular business hours between JULY 15TH - 20TH.

EVENT - The 6th Mini Masterpieces Fundraising Exhibition will have an opening reception Friday, August 2nd with a silent auction of all donated artworks. The auction event is from   5-8 pm. Bidding ends at 7:30 pm. Admission is $10. Artists who donate to the exhibition may attend for free. (Artists are encouraged to bring guests, but please know that free admission is only available for exhibiting artists, even if the artist has donated more than one piece.)

UNSOLD WORKS - Artists will be notified if any works go unsold the following week after the exhibition ends. They can then come to the museum to pick up their artwork. If the artist would like their artwork to be shipped back they must provide a pre-paid shipping label.

This annual competition is open to artists living in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The mission of the Freeport Art Museum's (FAM) annual Regional Juried Exhibition is to offer established and emerging artists the opportunity to debut work created in the last two years. Opening on Saturday, May 11th, 2024, the show runs through July 20th, 2024

The museum has gained a distinguished reputation for displaying a wide range of contemporary art, and this exhibition has become a visitor's favorite. Each year, FAM invites a new juror to select approximately 50 artworks for inclusion, and selected artworks to be awarded 1st - $300, 2nd - $200, 3rd - $100, and Honorable mention. Award winners are announced at the opening reception.

We are pleased to announce this year’s juror - Ari Norris

This year’s juror Ari Norris

Originally from Muskegon, MI, Ari Norris is an artist primarily working in sculpture, utilizing a variety of processes and materials. Norris received an MA from Northern Illinois University in 2021, and has exhibited solo shows in Chicago at David Salkin Creative, and the PLAN. Norris has been included in
group exhibitions West, Wester, Westest 4 at Left Field, Los Osos, CA, Shooting Pool with a Rope, at Baby Blue Gallery, Chicago, IL, the Midwest Sculpture Exhibition in Kokomo, IN, and other locations including Michigan, New York, Florida, Texas, and Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Norris recently became a partner of Cleaner Gallery + Projects, Chicago, IL in 2022.

He currently holds the positions of Gallery Director at Rockford University, Rockford, IL, Adjunct Faculty at Rockford University for Beginning Drawing and Co-Director & Partner at Cleaner Gallery + Projects, Chicago, IL
