In this talk we will examine the reputation that followed Caracalla: considered “a common enemy to mankind”, administrator and military leader. We'll explore his obsession with Alexander the Great and how it influenced his foreign policy and grandiose architectural projects, like the monumental Baths of Caracalla. Finally, we'll consider the immense legacy of his reign, particularly the Constitutio Antoniniana, and how this single act changed the course of Roman history forever. Join us as we explore the contradictions and complexities of one of Rome's most fascinating emperors.
